Holy CMYK Batman! My first big cover!
The original piece of art, though beautiful, didn’t really fit into EGM’s new lemon-lime clean and punchy style. I did some massive color work and lightened up Misturugi’s face. Underneath that red Kabuki eyeshadow lies a pretty intense Japanese man waiting to be unleashed… if it weren’t for those darn muddy shadows! I cleaned up his face, whitened his eyes, and slapped on a crystal glow onto his sword. I believe the crystal glow was modeled after the sheen of Soul Edge… so at least I’m within the boundaries of accurate lore.

Impressive work, you did an excellent job cleaning up the image. The crystal glow and background crystals are a good addition. When I first saw it the image I though they had just put some official art on the cover. That proves you did an excellent job.
It might be a good idea next time you do a comparison image to have it as a bisection. Although that does take more work, so I won’t fault you if you would rather not work more on something you have finished.

I mean, look at that… you put quite a bit of work into making that cover piece.
I think the only thing missing is that you should of changed the hair color…
There needs to be more pink!

You seriously make me wish I’d gone to school. Asides from that, very very impressive work. Wow. I can’t believe I honestly stumbled onto the site of the person who made that cover. Something millions of people have seen. As a mod at the soul calibur forums let me just say we all appreciated your work. As for the crystal glow, I always figured he was blocking a bullet or something like in the beginning of SC2. Either way, it’s snazzy lady. Nice work.
